What does the thread lift do?
Thread lift regenerates and rejuvenates the structure of the face, with similar effects to a surgical facelift, but without surgery. Specialised threads are introduced into the skin with a fine needle to lift muscle and tissue to improve skin texture. This treatment is new to the UK and we are one of the first aesthetic clinics to offer it.
How does the treatment work?
The threads are made of soluble PDO (polydioxanone): a material that has been used in surgery for many years. Research has Confirmed that PDO relaxes tendons and muscles, while stimulating neocollagenesis (the production of new collagen in the skin) PDO also stimulates elastin and hyaluronic acid synthesis of in the skin. Both substances are key to maintaining a firm, youthful look.
Threads are introduced into the skin through a fine needle - into either the skin itself, the muscle, or the subcutaneous fat. The treatment results in an immediate improvement in appearance but the results will improve over ensuing days and weeks as the PDO stimulates neocollagenesis, increasing the amount of collagen in the skin. The appearance of the skin improves in terms of overall texture, becoming thicker, tighter and firmer as fine lines and wrinkles are significantly reduced.
Varying dimensions in length and thickness of the thread are used for different indications. For example, short threads are used to treat fine lines around the eyes: thicker strands can be used in the forehead in place of Botulinum Toxin (Botox). The neck and jawline can be corrected and lifted using longer threads.
The threads eventually disappear, being naturally absorbed within six to eight months. The effects of treatment can be apparent for up to two years.
Which areas can be treated?
This is a very versatile treatment which can be used in any part of the face and neck to treat sagging brows, nasolabial lines, vertical and horizontal forehead wrinkles, drooping cheeks, marionette lines, sagging jawline, plus wrinkles and folds on the chin and neck.
What results can I expect?
Threadlift treatments result in an instant and natural looking improvement in the appearance of the skin. A process of natural protein synthesis then begins after about 10-14 days and continues for up to two years, maintaining a smooth and supple texture of the skin.
Please note;
These treatments can sometimes result in bruising. The degree of bruising varies depending both on the area being treated, and on the individual patient. It is important to note as well that considerable bruising sometimes occurs, and anyone undergoing treatment is advised to plan their social calendar or work commitments with this possibility in mind.
