A thread lift is a procedure that uses a disolvable suture to lift and tighten your skin. It regenerates and rejuvenates the structure of the face, and is a less invasive procedure that face surgery.
PDO threads can be further divided into three categories:
You will be advised to avoid alcohol and tobacco use for at least 5 days before your procedure, along with anything else that may increase the risk of bleeding or bruising, such as:
On the day of your procedure, the nurse will talk you through the potential complications and give you advice about the aftercare.
A thread lift can treat most parts of your face that are experiencing signs of aging. The areas around your cheeks, jaw, neck, and eyes are among the most commonly treated areas.
Because the results of thread lifts aren’t as drastic as the results of facelift surgeries, thread lifts are commonly used together with other anti-aging procedures such as HIFU (High Frequncy Ultrasound) or dermal fillers.
What results can I expect?
Threadlift treatments result in an instant and natural looking improvement in the appearance of the skin. A process of natural protein synthesis then begins after about 10-14 days and continues for 1 -2 years, maintaining a smooth and supple texture of the skin.
A PDO thread lift is a procedure that uses dissolvable sutures to rejuvenate and lift sagging skin. It maybe a cheaper and faster alternative to facelift surgery, but the results don’t last as long and aren’t as dramatic.
How does the treatment work?
The threads are made of soluble PDO (polydioxanone): a material that has been used in surgery for many years. Other types of thread are made from Polylactic Acid (PLA) and polycaprolactone (PCA)
The presence of PDO threads trigger cells in your body called fibroblasts stimulating neocollagenesis (the production of new collagen in the skin) PDO also stimulates elastin and hyaluronic acid synthesis of in the skin. Both substances are key to maintaining a firm, youthful look.
Threads are introduced into the skin through a fine needle – into either the skin itself, the muscle, or the subcutaneous fat. The treatment results in an immediate improvement in appearance but the results will improve over ensuing days and weeks as the PDO stimulates neocollagenesis, increasing the amount of collagen in the skin. The appearance of the skin improves in terms of overall texture, becoming thicker, tighter and firmer as fine lines and wrinkles are significantly reduced.
Varying dimensions in length and thickness of the thread are used for different indications.
The threads eventually disappear, being naturally absorbed within six to eight months. The effects of treatment can be apparent for up to two years.
Recovery from a PDO thread lift is minimal. You may have some swelling and bruising for the first 24 – 48 hours but you can return to most of your daily routines right away.
You should avoid rubbing your face as much as possible the week after your procedure to avoid accidently dislodgingany threads. You’ll also likely be advised to avoid pursing your lips, smoking, and drinking through a straw for the first several weeks.
Other activities you may want to avoid for 1 to 2 weeks include sleeping on your side, intense exercise, and visiting saunas.
Sleeping with your head propped on a pillow can help you avoid accidentally rolling onto your face during the middle of the night.
