Profhilo

What is PROFHILO?

Profhilo® is a revolutionary injectable hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment .

It is a subtle skin remodelling treatment that can be used on the face, neck, décolletage and hands. It can also be used to improve the appearance of scars. As we age, our bodies produce less Hyaluronic Acid (HA).

How does Profhilo work?

Profhilo contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid (HA) on the market but it isn’t a dermal filler (which is the main aesthetic treatment most associated with HA) or a wrinkle relaxing injection.

Instead, Profhilo might be best described as a “bio-remodeller” in that it stimulates natural healing processes within your body.

The treatment works in two phases, hydrating your skin and then stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin (a process known as neocollagenesis)

HA is a naturally-occurring substance in our skin, joints and connective tissues. It holds 1000 times its weight in water and its primary roles are to retain and bind moisture to the skin and to aid collagen production. This is what Profhilo taps into.

How many times is a Profhilo treatment required?

Typically, a Profhilo treatment process will consist of just two sessions conducted around one month apart. After around six months, if deemed necessary one more session can be performed to create an even more long-lasting effect.

How soon will I see results? The effects of Profhilo on the appearance of your skin are almost immediate. After just one treatment session, you will notice your skin looking revitalised and brighter. Profhilo then continues to work at a gradual, steady rate and over time you will notice a continuous improvement.

What is profhilo used for?

The treatment targets skin that lacks volume and elasticity, making it ideal for anyone over the age of 30 who is experiencing some skin laxity, crepe-like skin or fine lines and wrinkles.

After Profhilo treatment, you will notice that your skin looks and feels smoother, firmer, more hydrated and radiant. In fact, your skin quality should improve for up to six months.

Is the treatment painful?

Profhilo is injected just under the skin using very fine needles in pre-determined points. It is relativley painless and there is usually no need for topical pain relief creams prior to treatment. The treatment itself is very quick, taking only about 10 minutes.

On the face only five injection points are necessary on each side of the face to give maximum results.

What are the risks and side effects ?

There are no long-term side effects as  Profhilo is metabolised by the body completely.

No allergy test is required prior to treatment. The risk of allergic reactions is substantially reduced because Profhilo does not contain any synthetic chemicals which some people might react to.

Some people may experience redness, slight bruising, tenderness as well as itching at the injection sites but these were temporary and should resolve within a few hours to a day.

Is there any downtime?

There is no downtime.  It is advisable to avoid alcohol, aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication in the 24 hours before treatment.

Immediately after treatment you should avoid wearing make-up, and give sports, swimming and any other strenuous physical activity a miss for 24 hours.  It is also best to avoid saunas and steam rooms for a few days after treatment.

Who can not have the treatment?

Patients with bleeding disorders or a compromised immune system due to, for example, infectious diseases, cancer, HIV or diabetes should consult their doctor before considering Profhilo.

Cosmetic injectable treatments are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
