Sebaceous Cyst Removal

Sebaceous Cyst Removal

A sebaceous cyst is a noncancerous, fluid-filled lump that forms under the skin. Despite the name, these cysts are not filled with sebum (the oily substance produced by sebaceous glands). Instead, they are typically filled with keratin, a protein that makes up your skin, hair and nails.

Key Characteristics

  • Appearance: They often appear as round bumps or dome-shaped lumps with a dark dot (punctum) in the centre.
  • Size: They can range in size from a quarter of an inch to over 2 inches.
  • Location: Commonly found on the face, neck and torso.
  • Symptoms: Usually painless, but they can become tender, warm and swollen if inflamed.

Causes:

Sebaceous cysts form when the sebaceous gland or its duct becomes damaged or blocked, often due to trauma like a scratch or surgical wound. They can also be caused by genetic conditions or damage to cells during surgery.

Treatment:

Treatment options include draining the cyst or surgical removal. While draining can provide temporary relief, surgical removal is often recommended to prevent recurrence.

Using KLaser Technology we are able to drain and remove sebaceous cysts with minimal trauma and no stitches required.

Prices:

Starting from £300 per lesion.

A face to face consultation is required prior to any treatment to confirm that the cyst is suitable for removal.
